Warcraft 3 Custom Game Maps
Hey everyone, For some reason a few custom maps in my Map folder are not visible. I put these maps on a(n?) USB stick to transfer them from my old laptop to my new laptop. When I put the maps in the Maps folder I was able to see and open them in the world editor. I opened one map, edited it and tried to save it. For some reason it was not possible to save the map in that folder (Program files (x86)/Warcraft III/Maps). I decided to save the map by clicking 'Save As' and give it a new name. I saved this in the Maps folder and it worked.
When I'm in the World Editor I'm able to see amd open this map. But when I navigate to the map itself (outside of the World Editor) the custom map is not there. Please feel free to ask me anything if description is not clear enough. I hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance!:).
So I just moved the entire Warcraft 3 folder to Program Files instead of Program Files (x86). I could still not see any saved maps in the maps folder.

Unless I navigated to the map fom the World Editor. When this didnt work I did the same, but now with the Warcraft 3 game instad of the entire folder. This also didn't work. I did forget to mention that my Warcraft 3 is not up to date. For some reason the patch I downloaded from Battle.net can not be applied. I have another open thread about that issue, so I don't need a detailed solution about that in this thread (unless it's easy to explain, of course). The reason my game is not up to date is because the patches can't be applied.
When I try to patch my Warcraft 3 games I get the following error: Blizzard BNUpdate v2.133 compiled on Aug 14 2008 Log created at 12:31 pm on This patch upgrades Warcraft III Reign of Chaos from the previous version. ERROR: unable to apply patch to file 'Abilities Spells Items AIsp SpeedTarget.mdx' RESULT: Patch failed I've been browsing the internet or answers, but I've had no luck so far. Is this enough information about the issue? Or do you need more to understand what's going on? I encountered this problem before. It usually happen if the custom map you are trying to open is not compatible with your game's current patch version.
The only way to fix this is to download Warcraft 3 Version Switcher and switch your game to a version that is compatible with the custom map. You can download the version switcher using my link: I have included the patch data for almost every version of WC3. Extract the zip and open wvs.exe and then click 'Switch Version'. Start from version 1.20e and work your way up. Every time you switch, open your game and check if you can see the custom maps in-game. If not, close the game and switch to the next version and repeat. You can always switch back to the latest version using the '1.26a' file.
I hope this will work for you. Good luck.:). Thanks for the quick reply:) Before I try that I want to make sure we're talking about the same issue. I am able to open my custom maps in the game and in the world editor.
The only thing that's wrong is this: When I create and save a map in the world editor I can not see that map in my maps folder. (Program Files (x86)/Warcraft III/Maps). The only way to open the map is by going into the World Editor click on 'Open Map' (or ctrl + O) and navigate to the maps folder.
It automatically goes to the maps folder, so I don't really have to navigate to it. So yeah, I can open it in the game itself, i can open it throughthe Wrld Editor. But it's just not visible in the maps folder itself (when I'm not in the World Editor, or running the game). Epad A704j Drivers. Are we talking about the same problem? If we are I'll immediately try what you suggested:). Try running World Editor as admin and try again. This folder visibility issue is definitely a user-access issue of some kind.
