Manually Update Library Xbmc
I can’t get my library to auto-update in XBMC. I have my entire movie library on an external USB portable hard drive. I take this drive and plug it into my HTPC. My external hard drive’s folder structure is basically, X: Videos Movies, and then all of my movie files are in the “Movies” directory. No subfolders.

When I first run XBMC and point it to my movie library, it scans for about 10-15 minutes and finds everything. But if I add a new movie to my external drive, it will not show up in my movies the next time I run XBMC. If I want to play that movie, I have to manually select it by browsing to the file in XBMC on my HTPC. I have auto-update and all that selected. I have used the clean library option and checked everything else I can think of. Any thoughts or tips? That’s the problem I’m having.
I have my XBMC library set to auto update on startup, drive plugged in and all. I’ve even tried to update it manually in the system menus. It scans but will not find the new movies. I use my laptop to rip movies to the external drive. Ever since I installed windows 8 on my laptop, the problem with XBMC on my HTPC has been happening. When I was using Win7 on my laptop it worked fineI’d rip a movie, add it to my external, then plug the external drive into my HTPC and the library would update. I just wrote it off as a coincidence.
