This version will upgrade any and all versions of the nav OS for the mk4 If you have the latest version (4-1/00) on your system, you normally can't update with the.

For those that didn't see my posts earlier, navigation firmware v30 did not contain any updates for MKIV (only idrive), so it was understood that development on the MKIV NAV had ceased. Well, that understanding was incorrect. Firmware v31 is out and the version number for the MKIV does go from 4-1/91 to 4-1/100. It is not yet known what changes have been made. I'll have to hack it with my updates here in the next week or so. It's available on MegaUpload here (and it's in NRG (Nero image) format. Thanks for the upload! So will this update work for my E46 'Professional Sat Nav'?

I can't stand the 2D map, presumably this will give me a 3D map right? I'm almost tempted to go back to my Ipaq and Tomtom. How is it that Tomtom 2 through to Tomtom 6 are all better than the Sat Nav provided in my bimmer?

Yes, it'll work for you and yes, it'll give you 3D. You'll have to enable 3D after installing it. I've got instructions on how to do that on my web page. I've also got a hacked version of v29.1 that I made - I'll get around to hacking v31 soon (basically a different startup screen, sky, and menu text). I installed V31 tonight on my MkIV-based E39.

I haven't found any obvious differences from V29.1. The upgrade was smooth, 3D perspective is still working fine.:dunno: The firmware version is listed as SW 4-1/00, not 4-1/100, Here's a link to the V31 technical service bulletin, which basically says that no new significant features are added. Unfortunately not that simple. You need navtweak (installed with the GTK libraries) to make changes to the navboot file. Put simply, you download and install some software, (imgburn, ultraiso, navtweak and then GTK libs) and then make an image of the v32 software (or download it), then use an image exploder (like ultraiso) and drag and drop the navboot file out into a dir. Open the navboot with navtweak, then edit the images tab, for rombitmaps, #14 ( the splash) and change it with what you want (subject to the correct dimensions and file type). Then save and drag back into the image (again using ultraiso) and then save then burn to cd.

You need to bare in mind that one wrong move and you tank your nav drive, so be careful. If you want a fuller HOWTO then I'll post up later, with pics if you want? Ive downloaded the v29. The only thing i cant do is unzip the files, not sure what to do, any info would be great. Got imgburn done aswell, just not sure where to go to find unzip, cant find it anywhere.. Dont worry guys ive done it.
