Because you have no video through HDMI, VGA or on the laptop display itself, I would say the MoBo needs replacing. Because you can still access the dv8 through TeamViewer, the RAM, hard drive and the rest of the MoBo is still healthy, it's just the video section that's faulty (The NVIDIA GT230M video card to be precise) Telling some one that their mother board is defective is a serious conclusion to come to on a forum, you really should take your machine into a trusted repair shop for a second opinion. Parts are fairly common and inexpensive for the dv8, it's the labor of replacing them, even though I am sure you paid up-wards of around 2000,00 US dollars for the dv8, you may want to consider a new machine.

If you want to try and repair it yourself, I can help you with that _ post a again if you want to continue. These people ship world wide. Try doing a hard reset, but I wouldn't think this procedure would help much, but you have nothing to loose. Remove anything that is plugged into the laptop including the adapter _ remove the battery. Hold the power button down for at least 30 seconds.

Plug the adapter in only (no battery) and boot up. You can try and boot up with only one stick of RAM, but I don't think that will help either.

I have a Sony Handycam TRV-230 that I would like to use as my webcam. I have a Dell 8100 system with a firewire board that came with the Intro DV program. (The program does work for the PC, because I am able to see pre-recorded videos on the screen, so it is working) But how do I use it as a webcam, or can I? When I right click my computer and go to 'imaging devices' it shows up with like 'SONY DV CAM' but when I open up Netmeeting and go to select the cam, it does not let me, it doens't show anything. Anyone know what I need to do to get this to work, or if it is even possible? I have a Sony Handycam TRV-230 that I would like to use as my webcam. The problem goes back awhile and I have sort of fixed it but not to my satisfaction. By the way I have just visited the new support pages and I do not like them one bit. Anyhow for some reason my HP MediaSmart webcam stopped working. I kept getting the message something about incompatibility. This was completely out of the blue.

I tried a few things. I am not very computer savvy.

In the end I uninstalled the webcam and used the ‘recovery manager’ to reinstall the HP MediaSmart webcam. Then I had big problems find a driver that would work. (There does not appear to be the same selection of drivers available now has there was when I had a go at fixing the problem originally). The suggested driver at the present time is sp51029exe.

I could not get the webcam to work with that driver. I tried everything. It was really frustrating. Eventually I came across a driver for a MediaSmart Webcam Vista sp4222.exe and that worked and is still working, but I cannot update the webcam.

During my search of the internet I found YouCam for HP. I downloaded it and got it to work but I could not attach it to the MediaSmart Menu. What I would like to do is install the correct MediaSmart Webcam or YouCam with it appearing on the MediaSmart Menu. Crack Sam File With Ophcrack.
